Weekend Roundup – 18th & 19th July 2026

From Saturdays to Midweek – Gidea Park Delivers!

It was another busy week for Gidea Park & Romford CC, with our senior sides, juniors and women's team all in action. There were some outstanding individual performances, big victories, and plenty of positives to take into the coming fixtures.

? Adult / Senior Cricket
1st XI
✅ Won by 4 wickets vs Aztecs CC
The 1st XI produced an excellent run chase to overhaul 262, reaching the target with almost five overs to spare. Shavawn Cunningham anchored the innings superbly with 69, while Micheal Pegram's unbeaten 48 ensured a comfortable finish. Earlier, Louie Collins starred with the ball, claiming a superb 5-wicket haul to restrict the hosts.

2nd XI
❌ Lost by 4 wickets vs Hornchurch CC
After posting a competitive 226-8 declared, thanks to excellent innings from Adam Thain (71) and Thomas Stone (59), the visitors chased down the target. Karl Ochse picked up two wickets, but Hornchurch held their nerve to claim victory.

3rd XI
✅ Won by 5 wickets vs Orsett & Thurrock CC
The 3rd XI delivered one of the performances of the weekend with an emphatic chase of 266, reaching the target in just 33.5 overs.
Mohammed Shamil blasted 80 from just 47 balls, Rakib Hossain added 63, while Dipesh Tailor contributed 52 to complete an outstanding batting display.
Earlier, Henry Griffin impressed with 4 wickets, while Fayyas Jabbar claimed two wickets to help restrict the opposition.

4th XI
✅ Won by 119 runs vs Ilford CC
A dominant all-round display saw the 4th XI pile on 332-5.
Alfie Williams stole the show with a magnificent 119, while Paul Rawlings remained unbeaten on 105, putting together a match-winning partnership.
With the ball, Paul Rawlings completed a superb all-round game by taking 5 wickets, helping dismiss Ilford for 213.

5th XI
❌ Lost by 6 wickets vs Roding Valley CC
The 5th XI battled hard after being bowled out for 173.
Chet Chohan played an excellent unbeaten innings of 72, but the visitors chased the total in under 23 overs despite two early wickets from Alfie Mollison.

? Junior / Youth Cricket
Under 9
✅ Won vs Rainham CC
Our youngest cricketers continued their excellent season with a convincing victory.
A disciplined bowling display saw Rainham finish with a net score of 229, while Gidea Park posted 330, securing a well-deserved win. Harry Lynch and Joseph Fretwell each claimed two wickets in an excellent team effort.

Under 11
❌ Lost vs Brentwood U9 Bandits
Despite some positive contributions from Harry Burns, Haris Azizi and Charlie Savill, the Under 11s were unable to overcome Brentwood in the pairs format.
Plenty of encouraging performances to build on heading into the next fixture.

Under 16
✅ Won by 7 wickets vs Redbridge CC
The Under 16s continued their strong form with an excellent victory.
The bowlers shared the wickets around, with Freddie Rawlings (3), Henry Griffin (3) and Frank Winney (2) helping dismiss Redbridge for 162.
In reply, Frank Winney produced a superb unbeaten 80, supported by Henry Griffin's unbeaten 38, guiding the team home comfortably.

Under 19 T20
❌ Lost vs Orsett & Thurrock CC
Batting first, Gidea Park posted 167-5, with James Radden scoring 48, Dev Dharmendra adding 37, and Bobby Mercer finishing unbeaten on 28.
Despite an early breakthrough from Umar Tahir and another wicket for Frank Winney, the hosts chased down the target in 17.4 overs.

? Women's Cricket
Women's Softball
❌ Lost vs Upminster CC
The Women's team continued to show fantastic commitment and determination.
Kate Poch top-scored with 25, while Rebecca Watson added useful runs. Although Upminster secured the victory, every game continues to provide valuable experience as the squad develops together.
The progress and enthusiasm shown throughout the season remains a huge positive for the club, and the team continues to grow stronger with every outing.

* ? Frank Winney starred with an unbeaten 80 to lead the Under 16s to victory.
* ? Victories for the 1st XI, 3rd XI, 4th XI, Under 9s and Under 16s made it another memorable week for Gidea Park & Romford CC.
