Weekend Roundup – 20th & 21st June 2026

Mixed Fortunes but Strong Performances for Gidea Park & Romford CC

Gidea Park & Romford CC enjoyed another action-packed weekend of cricket, with victories across the youth section and the 5th XI, while several senior sides battled hard against strong opposition.

1st XI vs Harold Wood CC – Defeat by 6 Wickets
The 1st XI posted 161 all out after being put into bat. Hasibul Hoq led the resistance with an excellent 59, supported by Umar Tahir's 31. Despite a spirited bowling display from skipper Shavawn Cunningham, who claimed 3 wickets, Harold Wood chased down the target with six wickets to spare.
Top Performer: Hasibul Hoq – 59 runs
Best Bowling: Shavawn Cunningham – 3 wickets

2nd XI vs Chingford CC – Defeat by 8 Wickets
A difficult afternoon for the 2nd XI saw them dismissed for 97. Dev Dharmendra (22) and Dipesh Tailor (19) were the main contributors. Chingford reached their revised target comfortably, winning by eight wickets.
Top Performer: Dev Dharmendra – 22 runs

3rd XI vs Oakfield Parkonians – Draw
The 3rd XI produced a determined batting effort to secure a draw after Oakfield Parkonians posted 278-5. Sarosh Elahi led the chase with a superb 60, while David Croker remained unbeaten on 49. Earlier, Dushyant Joshi delivered an outstanding spell, taking 3 wickets for 60 from 16 overs.

Best Bowling: Dushyant Joshi – 3 wickets

4th XI vs Walthamstow CC – Defeat by 41 Runs
Walthamstow posted 214-8 before the 4th XI were bowled out for 173. Paul Rawlings fought valiantly with 68, while Jonathon Ashlin added 24. Despite some disciplined bowling from Jonathon Ashlin and Prinul Patel, the target proved beyond reach.
Top Performer: Paul Rawlings – 68 runs

5th XI vs Hornchurch Athletic CC – Victory by 7 Wickets
The standout senior performance of the weekend came from the 5th XI. After bowling Hornchurch Athletic out for 183, thanks to contributions from Matthew Galpin, Stuart Brooks, and Alan Rand, Gidea Park chased the target comfortably. James Griffin anchored the innings with an unbeaten 82 and Stuart Brooks smashed an unbeaten 68 as the side secured a convincing seven-wicket victory.

Youth Cricket

Under 9s vs Brentwood Buccaneers – WIN

The U9s continued their impressive season with a convincing softball victory over Brentwood, finishing with a net score of 282 compared to Brentwood's 204. An excellent all-round bowling effort saw 11 wickets shared across the team.

Under 13s vs Bentley CC – Defeat by 3 Wickets
The U13s posted 105-4, with George Rawlings top-scoring with 27 and Albert Winney finishing unbeaten on 25. Despite a determined bowling effort, Bentley reached the target with just over two overs remaining.

Under 16s vs Newham CC – Victory by 9 Wickets
A dominant display from the U16s saw them bowl Newham out for 106 before chasing the target in only 11.4 overs. Henry Griffin starred with the ball, taking 3 wickets, while Frank Winney claimed 2. Nicolas Mosee then produced a superb unbeaten 52 from just 27 balls to guide the team home.

Best Bowling: Henry Griffin – 3 wickets

Despite mixed results in the senior section, there were plenty of positives across the club. Outstanding individual performances from James Griffin, Nicolas Mosee, Sarosh Elahi, Hasibul Hoq and Dushyant Joshi highlighted another weekend where Gidea Park & Romford CC continued to show strength across all age groups.
